(Apply) File Mask Help
Use this feature to narrow down the office documents and text files you want to select from the source folder.
This is an advanced feature, and is not enabled out of the box. Please go to the Advanced Settings / Message Center by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the main screen, Advanced Settings tab, and make sure that Enable Advanced Search Options is enabled. See Advanced Settings.
The File Mask box then appears in step 2 of the main screen once some files are loaded. Type the pattern and click Apply; Apply works when at least one folder has been added in step 2. The mask is a regular expression (REGEX) that is compared with the file name; upper and lower case letters are treated the same. The files that do not match stay in the list but are unselected, you can see them in Review Selected Files for operation.
| Example | Explanation |
|---|---|
.* |
Selects ALL files and is a default for this application |
report |
You can type any part of the file name, for example typing report will select all files with names containing "report" |
.*\.docx |
Use this pattern to select files with a specific extension (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .txt, .csv) |
If the pattern is not a valid regular expression you will see the message "Invalid Matching Pattern. Try: .* or see help."
Use your favorite search engine to find more information on REGEX pattern matching to narrow down specific files.
Also note that when this feature is enabled and some files are loaded, the Import Files From CSV button in step 2 is labeled simply I.
